SUFI traditions and chechen hospitality

DAY 1 - Introduction to Pankisi

  • Meet-and-greet in Tbilisi and transfer to the Pankisi Gorge, a secretive valley in Eastern Georgia inhabited mainly by the muslim Kists, an ethnic subgroup of the Chechens.

  • During the whole length of your journey you will stay at a traditional guesthouse run by a local Chechen family.

  • Meals and overnight in Pankisi.

DAY 2 - Chechen Culture

  • We'll spend the whole day with the proud and gentle inhabitants of the Pankisi Gorge, experiencing local traditions and tasting delicious homemade specialities.

  • Today's route will cover all the major villages of Pankisi including Jokolo, Duisi, Omalo and Birkiani: ancient mosques, picturesque churches, evocative chants and mesmerising sufi rituals.

  • Meals and overnight in Pankisi.

DAY 3 - Pankisi Nature

  • Today will be devoted to the exploration of the stunning natural attractions that this remote and fascinating gorge jealousy shields from the large masses of tourists crowding into much more popular destinations in Georgia.

  • The route varies according to the season and each customer's particular preferences and gives you the chance to experience the pristine nature of a place resembling the European Alps as they probably looked like two centuries ago.

  • Meals and overnight in Pankisi.

DAY 4 - FAREWELL TO PANKISI

  • After sharing a last Chechen meal, we'll take care of your transfer to Tbilisi.

  • End of the tour.
