Bespoke North Korea Tours

In addition to our standard North Korea route, we also offer tour services for private travel parties and lone wolves alike. As a traveller-oriented boutique operator, tailored trips and bespoke adventures are our bread and butter. Get in touch for more info on our customised journeys to North Korea!

DAY 1•Beijing TO Pyongyang

Meet-and-greet at Beijing International Airport, handover of the visa (DPRK tourist card), introductory briefing about the rules to observe while travelling in North Korea and Air Koryo flight to Pyongyang.

Railroad Option: the regular sleeper train from Beijing to Pyongyang represents an arguably more romantic way to reach North Korea than the standard Air Koryo flight. Please get in touch, if you prefer to travel by rail and we will organise this once-in-a-life-time experience for you.

Arrival in Pyongyang, transfer to our hotel of choice (either the Sosan or the Yanggakdo) and first orientation walk around downtown.

Dinner and overnight in Pyongyang.

DAY 2 TO DAY 3•Pyongyang

We'll devote two entire days to the exploration of Pyongyang, the brave-new-world capital of North Korea.

The list of highlights of our sojourn in Pyongyang includes (but is not limited to):

Kim Il Sung Square, Grand People’s Study House, Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery, Tower of the Juche Idea, Monument to Party Founding, Pyongyang Metro, Three Revolutions Exhibition, Sci-Tech Complex, Children Palace, State Library, Mansudae Fountain Park, Great Leaders Mausoleum, USS Pueblo Submarine, Soviet Army Obelisk, Victory Arch and a vast plethora of brutalist concrete shapes and socialist mosaics.

If any parade and/or celebration is going to take place during our stay (as it is often the case), we will join the local crowd to enjoy the totalitarian choreographies of the event.

Meals and overnight in Pyongyang.

DAY 4•PyongSONG

Full-day excursion to the central-northern districts of the country, visiting the off-the-beaten-path city of Pyongsong, home to the Paeksong Revolutionary Site, the ancient Buddhist temple of Pohyŏnsa, and the breathtakingly gorgeous Myohyangsan mountain area.

Dinner and overnight in Pyongyang.

DAY 5 • DMZ

In the morning we'll drive to the Demilitarised Zone in Panmunjom (DMZ) located along the mighty 38th Parallel.

We'll visit the Koryo Museum, also home of the best stamp and propaganda poster shop in the DPRK.

The DMZ is of the tensest places on the planet but the North Korean border post is the only place along this contested frontier where you can actually take photographs (even with soldiers).

We'll then enjoy a city walk around Kaesong old city, have lunch at local restaurant (dog meat soup for 5 € extra), and visit the Ginseng Processing Factory.

In the afternoon we'll drive back to Pyongyang and stop at the world-famous Reunification Monument for some photographic mementos.

Dinner and overnight in Pyongyang.

DAY 6 • BACK TO CHINA

After breakfast we'll take care of your transfer to either Pyongyang International Airport or Pyongyang Central Railway Station for your trip back to China.

Please do not hesitate to contact us, in case you need any kind of assistance in China, such as hotel bookings, visa assistance, guided city tours, private drivers for day-trips out of town et cetera.

End of the tour.
